እምነታችን · Our faith
One of the oldest churches in the world.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church received the Gospel in the earliest centuries of Christianity. ተዋሕዶ (Tewahedo) means “made one”: the perfect union of the divinity and humanity of Christ. We keep the liturgy in Ge'ez, the ancient chant of St. Yared, and the fasts and feasts handed down through the centuries.
Medhane Alem Church has served Nairobi since . It is a spiritual home for Ethiopians living in Kenya, for Eritrean Orthodox faithful, and for Kenyans drawn to the ancient liturgy.
